About Mark Thomas
Mark Thomas joined the faculty at Central College in 2015. His research focuses on German Idealism — in particular, the relationship between freedom and the systematic structure of reality in Schelling’s philosophy. He has published articles in Schelling-Studien, Research in Phenomenology, Epoché, and The Proceedings of the American Catholic Philosophical Association.
At Central College, he has taught introduction to philosophy, logic, contemporary philosophy and political philosophy, as well as topics courses on the problem of evil, the philosophy of art and the theory of knowledge. He currently serves as the advisor to the Philosophy Club. He loves German language and culture and spent two years in Freiburg, Germany while working on his dissertation. As an undergraduate, he studied music (organ performance), and he enjoys playing the clavichord in his free time.
