Grants/Need-Based Aid

Federal and state grants are available for students showing financial need. To be eligible for any of the grants listed below you must file a FAFSA form. Renewal of these grants from year to year is based on financial need.

Federal Pell Grants

Pell Grant eligibility is based on financial need as determined by your FAFSA. Awards range in value from $692-$6,895 based on financial need.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG)

FSEOG grants are available to a limited number of undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional financial need and are eligible for the Pell Grant. Amounts vary but at Central they are typically $500.

Iowa Tuition Grant

The State of Iowa offers the Iowa Tuition Grant to students, who are residents of Iowa, who plan to attend one of the private colleges in Iowa. To be eligible for the Iowa Tuition Grant you must have filed the FAFSA by July 1. The amount is determined each year by the Iowa College Student Aid Commission but is currently $7,500. In the event that available state funds will be insufficient to pay the full amount of each approved grant due to the state’s fiscal condition, the Iowa College Student Aid Commission has the authority to administratively reduce the maximum award to an amount less than the statutory maximum.

TEACH Grants

The TEACH Grant (or Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant) is a federally funded program to assist students who plan to teach in a high-need area and are willing to teach in a low-income school.  Forgivable loans of up to $3,772 are available annually for students who qualify.

Life Loves On
