Ministry Teams
Local Team
This group organizes events for hands-on ministry with local organizations and churches. Events include working with children who have parents in prison (Angle Tree), after-school programs, nursing home outreach, blood drives and homeless ministry.
Global Team
This group increases awareness about and fights global injustices such as human trafficking and global poverty. It has worked with Jonathan’s House Orphanage, Many Hands for Haiti, Samaritan’s Purse and other Christian nonprofit organizations. Recently, Global Team began partnering with local fair trade businesses to put on a World Care Fair in Maytag Student Center.
The Calm Team
This team works directly with the chaplain to plan Sunday evening worship services, to brainstorm ideas for engaging the student body and to give feedback about the current vision for Campus Ministries. Recently, students wrote a life verse on bricks stacked to create a foundation along the stage wall in the Upper Chapel.
Campus Team
This team reaches out to campus through brainstorming big-picture vision, participating in special projects, partnering with other campus groups and walking with students in their pursuit of Christ. One such event was reverse trick-o’-treating in which team members wore costumes and knocked on doors and passed out candy. Campus Team is a unique opportunity to lead the Central community, especially its Christian leaders.
Worship Team
This team leads students to God through song Sunday evenings at The Calm, occasionally at the IVCF large-group worship and during worship at retreats.
Tech Team
This team serves God and His people behind the scenes. It runs the sound system and media at large group worship services. It also moves, sets up and tears down portable sound equipment at InterVarsity large group worship services.
