Intern / Co-op Housing Program

Housing is available for college-age students year-round who are interning or co-oping at businesses in Pella and the surrounding communities.

The housing program utilizes townhouses on the Central College campus. The program houses interns/co-ops in designated townhouses with other interns, separate from summer staff and event participants.

The townhouses are similar to dorm-style living on a smaller basis. Every two rooms share a bathroom which is outside the rooms. Each house has a shared living area — some have a TV in this space and others do not. Each house also has a shared kitchen that includes a refrigerator, microwave, stove and basic cooking items. This kitchen will be shared with as many as 32 other people (typically a house will have anywhere from 8-22 residents but could have up to 32, depending on the house). Individuals are allowed to bring in a “dorm” style refrigerator to keep in their room if they’d like.

Cost will be $140.00 per week for a private room or $100.00 per week when sharing a room, prices effective Jan. 1, 2022. The majority of the rooms have two beds. Roommate preferences are recommended. Housing is available year-round with more rooms available in the summer months. Once our open rooms are full, additional housing will be available beginning May 16, 2022. Our primary summer season will end on Aug. 8 with limited availability for later stays.

Amenities include:

  • Use of the Central College athletics complex fitness center (during normal summer operating hours) and Maytag Student Center fitness center
  • 18-hole disc golf course
  • Tennis courts
  • Cross-country course
  • Sand volleyball and basketball courts
  • Cable television
  • Internet access
  • Ample green space for pick-up games and relaxation
  • Off-street parking

An application will be emailed to interested parties. Once completed, a contract will be prepared and sent out by May 1.

Please feel free to contact our office with further questions. Once we have received your completed application, you will be placed on the reservation list in order of receipt. Cancelations must be received in writing no later than 2 weeks prior to the move-in date. Cancelations after that time will result in loss of security deposit.

Fostering Community

Central College’s partnership with the By Degrees Foundation fosters community with students from underrepresented backgrounds and builds bridges connecting students to educational opportunities beyond high school. North High School’s 2024 graduates are the first class to partner with Central since third-grade year. Congratulations. We can’t wait to see what’s next!
